Nevis scuba

Divers and snorkelers will find plenty of tropical treasures under the translucent waters that surround St. Kitts and its sister island Nevis. The island has some 70 dive sites, many of which harbor rarely explored shipwrecks and even thermal vents teeming with abundant sea life. Colorful coral reefs protect much of these waters, which serve as prime snorkeling spots where you can see as far as 60 to 100 feet down. Snorkeling is easy to do right off beach; for diving, check with Pro-Divers on St. Kitts or Scuba Safaris in Nevis, two of the best outfitters on the islands. Melbourne’s Colonial Tramcar Restaurant: An Update

Group on the tramcar restaurant

Our correspondent Phillipa Burne wrote a lovely post on Melbourne’s Colonial Tramcar Restaurant back in 2009; I was in Melbourne recently and wondered if anything had changed. The Tramcar Restaurant has become even more popular in the ensuing years, and I was keen to discover if my 2011 experience was any different to Phillipa’s. What I discovered was… well, read on to find out!

Highlights of Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei Temple

On the surface of it, Taipei is a difficult city to love. It’s a noisy, often traffic-clogged place where recent architectural heavyweights such as the giant Taipei 101 tower don’t really disguise the concrete uniformity of the city streets. However, once you start poking your nose down the laneways rather than spending hours trying to cross busy intersections, a different, more human picture emerges. It’s also a city where the big attractions are unquestionably worth seeing – and here are just some of them.

Terezin and other Day Trips From Prague, Czech Republic

Sedlec Skulls

Terezin has always been an odd place. It was built as a giant fortress in the late 18th century when the Hapsburg kings of the Austro-Hungarian empire were continually trying to keep the Prussians at bay. But it’s so big that you’d be hard pushed to spot that it is a fortress. Divided into two parts – the town of Terezin and the somewhat inaccurately-named ‘Small Fortress’ – the ramparts stretch for kilometres. Indeed, it is thought that there are over 50km of tunnels connecting everything together.

All About Kakadu National Park

ubirr rocks and floodplain

There are some good reasons why Kakadu National Park, in Australia’s Northern Territory, is such an iconic destination.
