Amman, Jordan

There were just two international hotels, the Intercontinental and the Holiday Inn, and these were packed with consultants, businessmen and the occasional traveller.

[VIDEO] Dutch Villages and Countryside Bike Tour

A perfect blue sky, friendly companions, and a knowledgeable guide – what else could you ask for on a Dutch Villages and Countryside Bike tour? We met at the Yellow Bike office near Central Station and biked the quick route to the ferry where we crossed over to the north part of Amsterdam and started the tour. We then took the flat, easy-to-navigate paths all around the countryside, seeing windmills, canals, scenic villages, and old churches interspersed with horses, cows and sheep grazing in the fields.

2011 Rugby World Cup – an update from the ground in Auckland

Saying that New Zealand is thrilled about the outcome of the 2011 Rugby World Cup is the understatement of the year. Ever since my arrival in Auckland, I’ve see nothing but All Blacks jerseys, posters, signs and merchandise. And rightfully so – the mighty All Blacks have only won the World Cup once, during the first ever RWC which was held here in New Zealand in 1987. The same four teams made it to the final and bronze final in 1987 and 2011, and the same team came out victorious.

All of Mexico is preparing for a truly ancient festival, one with roots far deeper than the Spanish, or even the Aztec, Empires. This is Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, when the veil grows thin between the worlds and all manners of art, poetry, and emotion are released.
