***Editor’s Note: The contest is now closed. Stay tuned for when we announce the winner!***
A visit to the Colosseum will surely be the highlight of any trip to Rome, and starting in May 2011, Viator has your chance to win 2 tickets to a Colosseum tour and experience the newly-opened areas of this ancient monument! First-time and return visitors alike won’t want to miss the opportunity to see one of the world’s best known sites from antiquity- and for something built in 80 AD, the Colosseum is holding up very well.
May 2011 will mark the opening of the exclusive ‘third ring’ of the Colosseum – not open since the 1970′s and the never-before-seen underground of the Colosseum. Upgrade to the 8:30am tour and not only will you skip the long lines (which can last up to two hours!) to enter the Colosseum but beat the crowds and enjoy the Colosseum in the calmer hours of the morning. Tours are arranged exclusively for our guests and groups never exceed 10 people, plus you’ll get a whole extra 30 minutes inside the Colosseum (3.5 hours).
Prepare to see Ancient Rome as it hasn’t ever been seen before! For the first time in history, the Colosseum is opening its underground level to visitors. You can explore the tunnels where gladiators once prepared for fights and lions and tigers were caged. This special access tour will visits the newly opened underground as well at the highest level of the Colosseum – the third tier – which has also just been opened for the first time since the 1970s! The views from the 3rd level of the Colosseum over the inside of this spectacular amphitheater as well as the surrounding Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are not to be missed. These areas can only be visited with a guided tour and must be booked in advance.
Roman Colosseum Contest: How to enter
To enter for your chance to win, simply post a reply to this blog entry answering the question, “Why should Viator give YOU 2 free tickets to the Colloseum?” in 10 words or less. Entries must be submitted by April 15, 2011. Winners will be announced on April 22, 2011.
You can enter our contest as many times as you like, but remember, your reply must be 10 words or fewer or it will not be considered.
Good luck!
- Viator Travel Team
Terms & Conditions: Our staff will pick the entry that we think best answers the question above, in 10 words or less. We are offering 2 free tickets for a Colosseum Tour from Rome between May 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011. The dates cannot be changed or modified- the Colosseum has only confirmed the 3rd level will be open through these dates. Airfare, taxes, and any other expenses not specifically listed above are not included. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be sold or redeemed for any cash value.

I would love to win a pair of tickets to the Colosseum tour so I can take my fiance!! I myself am originally from the Netherlands and am finally able to bring my fiance to Europe this summer to meet my family. He has never been outside of the United States and I want to be able to show him everything that Europe, and especially Italy, has to offer. I studied abroad in Italy 4 years ago and hated that I was not able to share all the amazing experiences I had with him. Being able to take him on this tour would let us explore Rome together and create some amazing memories. Since we are both recent college grads our financial situation would normally not let us participate in such an amazing tour. Winning these tickets would really make our trip that much better!!
