Editor’s Note: The contest is now closed and we have a winner! Susan A has been selected as our grand prize winner, earning a $200 Viator gift certificate alongside a gift certificate for 20 free nights at any Hampton Hotel. Susan submitted a few entries to the contest (pumpkin sludge, anyone?). But the comment that impressed our judges most was: “I wish I had a 100% guarantee that my next family vacation will be fun, relaxing, and glitch-free (and that all of our careful research and planning will pay off with delightful, life-long memories for everyone)!” Thanks again to everybody who entered our contest.
Think back to 1989. The Berlin Wall has just fallen. The television shows LA Law, Cheers and Murphy Brown clean up at the Emmy Awards. George Michael’s Faith is the album of the year. And Hampton Hotels launches its “100% Satisfaction Guarantee.”
Yes, 1989 was a banner year.
Fast-forward 20 years. There are many anniversaries to celebrate in 2009, but the one we’re focused on is Hampton Hotel’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (not 100% satisfied? then you do not pay). Why? Because in honor of the 20th anniversary of Hampton’s guarantee, Viator and Hampton have joined together to give away 20 free nights at any Hampton Hotel plus a $200 gift certificate at Viator.com!!
Yes! The winner of our contest stays for 20 nights - free! - at any Hampton hotel. You’ll have 1,700+ locations to chose from… Manhattan to New Orleans, San Francisco to San Antonio, Puerto Rico to Mexico to Canada and beyond!. And you’ll receive a $200 Viator.com gift certificate.
How to enter
What’s the catch? There isn’t one!! All you need to do is answer one simple question:
What do YOU wish in life came with a 100% guarantee?
Leave your answer as a comment below. We will select the best answer to the question “What do YOU wish in life came with a 100% guarantee?” by November 5, and post the winning response below. That’s it. That’s all it takes to win 20 free hotel nights and a Viator.com gift certificate!!
Contest rules: The fine print
- The deadline for submissions is November 3, 2009. Winners will be announced by November 5, 2009.
- To enter the contest, simply leave a comment below answering the question:”What do YOU wish in life came with a 100% guarantee?”
- Viator will select a winner based on who they feel best answers the question above.
- You may enter the contest as often as you like, as long as you supply a different answer with each entry.
- The winner will receive a Hampton Hotels certificate entitling them to stay for 20 nights, free, at any Hampton Hotels location, subject to normal availability. The certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. All hotel nights must be used within 12 months. The certificate has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
- The winner will receive a USD$200 Viator.com gift certificate, valid for two years from the date of issue or as required by local law. Viator gift certificates are not redeemable for cash.
- Viator, Hampton Hotel, and Hilton Inc. employees, contractors and their families are not eligible to win this contest - don’t even think about it!
Good luck, and congratulations Hampton Hotels for 20 years of awesome customer service!

Apartments! Landlords always say the place you’re looking at has the cheapest heat bills in the building, solid sound-proof walls and will be clean and free of bugs. This never seems to come true though…so I’d like a 100 percent apartment guarantee on my next place. Thanks!

What do I wish for in life that would come with a 100% guarantee? The pursuit of happiness. Mind you, we were all given the right of the “pursuit of happiness” as stated in the Declaration of Independence. But, no where does it state the “guarantee of happiness”.
Something got you down? Not really happy about life right now? Ask for a refund, exchange, or compensation! If life came with a 100% guarantee (and assuming there was a way to back it up!), I believe the world would be a better place!

It would be wonderful if there was a 100% guarantee for all the beautiful newborn babies in this world to grow and have lifelong RESPECT for everyone they meet throughout their lives, especially the older population.
Young people throughout man’s existance think they are smarter than adults/seniors but if they recognized that there is much to learn from others and especially respecting the seniour population with their many years of wisdom, it would make this world a better place to live. We can all learn from the young and old as long as their is RESPECT and love for all!

October 23rd, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Amzing it would be to patronize and see for oneself how is this 100% satisfaction guarantee from HAMPTON…as otherwise, nothing is guranteed 100%..one can expect the unexpected, the only thing certain is uncertainty..else, poverty, diseases, illiteracy, supersitions would have been eliminated from less priviledged parts of our mother earth…globe trotter i am and as a preffered guest, HHonours, ….I am with almost all major hotel chains in the world..
Well, this 18th November onwards, I am touring Belgium–Brussels, Bruges, antwerp, Ghent..Netherland, France…whther I win or not[no one can guarantee as there are so many variables in any system!–and if things come as HAMPTON GUARANTEE, The role of God would be diminished..can anyone give God’s evidence , the purpose of life, with Hampton Guarantee?
I think in hospitality sector, Hampton tried to excel, I shall have to try out right away..if yes, each of its unit in these places gives even’reasonable’ satisfaction, I ll be lifetime member..and what is the gurantee that you give me a prize for 20 Hampton nights and I am alive to patronise, if I am I will….thanks.
October 24th, 2009 at 12:26 am
It sounds like yet another advertising gimmick…I ll see reviews etc..and then, let me try out thsi so called 100%satisfaction GUARANTEED,
what I would pray is 100% sublime love…love for each living being..afterall , under the skin we all humans are the same…one has to dissolve one’s ego to evolve oneself into real being…but yet, in order to perform while away from home ,and against all odds ,if only you could find ‘reasonable’ saisfaction..as one gets what one pays for…let me see what value I derive…
October 24th, 2009 at 12:36 am
It seems Hampton knows best what it takes to turn guests on..the ways and means to stay in public eye..I am going to try…and if it turns out to be tall claim, well, this campaign would be dysfunctional…it would go against the name…it would set a word of mouth..post reviews accordingly…that is what I am going to see , the revies but then may be i try out this guarantee…what i wish that happiness comes in my life and remains..100%…I should be able to make use of even unpleasant moments..i do not hurt anybody..and i wish no one hurts me ..who can guarantee 100% happiness..God..but what is the guarantee that God does good to good people…they seem to suffer the most…if only some one can give me 100% guarantee of God’s existance..as so many paradoxes…miseries all around…let me be sure of God..and then if it is there why all this drama..why poverty, diseases, supersititions, …
why some are so rich, not well earned but yet respected..where are so called miracles..they do happen, who can unmask all such mysteries with 100% satisfaction?
October 24th, 2009 at 6:44 am
<3 LOVE, HEALTH & FAMLIY. Those are the main things in life you need. A money guaranteed would be nice too.

I wish hope came with a 100% gaurantee, that everything would go right, in a fairy tale way. These days there is so much false hope, and it is so hard to stay hopeful when my son is in the hospital in ICU, and he is paralyzed, medically, and unconscious…its hard. I wish hope was 100% garaunteed to be real.

An Arabic proverb goes thus …”A cloud is a promise, fulfillment is rain” … how good would it be if WORDS spoken with good intentions, however small, came with a 100% guarantee that the speaker would subsequently ACT on them sincerely … be it a promise made by a working parent to her little kid to be back from work early to spend time with her or one by the world leaders to fight global problems like poverty and terrorism … our world would be such a great place to live in!
