Editor’s Note: Viator recently held a contest to “Win Your Dream Travel Job” where we selected 4 finalists to travel the world shooting video. For 60 days, these teams traveled and filmed in some of the world’s top destinations, documenting their experiences along the way. Go here to watch their unforgettable journey!

From Orlando and the fun times in Florida, Jules and Brock headed up to New Orleans, where they spent a few days exploring The Big Easy, its surrounds and the region’s vibrant culture.

Day 1

On their first day, the team got acquainted to their new city with a Grand Tour of Cajun Country. On the tour, they visited one of the oldest plantations in the south, Oak Alley Plantation, as well as Laura, a Creole plantation.

Jules also made friends with the local wildlife…

Day 2

Brock and Jules were able to learn about the city’s recent history on a Post Hurricane Katrina Tour. They toured the French Quarter, which was virtually untouched by the hurricane; learned about raised houses from the late 1700’s; and saw the destruction and devastation caused by the levee breaches.

That evening the team got a taste of the local nightlife on our new Big Easy Jazz Tour. The tour took them to Bourbon Street, New Orleans’ famous party street known for its Mardi Gras celebrations.

Not to mention its great jazz music!

Day 3

The next day, the team took an entertaining New Orleans Cooking Class located in the heart of the French Quarter. The class was taught by an expert who showed them how to make New Orleans specialties such as Gumbo, Jambalaya and Pralines. Yum!

Having a great time cooking and (most importantly) eating!

Later, a Steamboat Natchez Evening Jazz Cruise took them down the Mississippi on the only ‘authentic’ steamboat in New Orleans and one of six still operating on the river. From the boat they enjoyed breathtaking views of the city, music and more food.

Day 4

Their last activity in New Orleans, the Garden District Walking Tour, took them on a walking tour through one of the city’s most exclusive areas. This ‘American’ section of town was built to rival the architectural splendor of the Creoles’ French Quarter, so there are plenty of homes of former Mardi Gras kings and queens to marvel at!

Next stop: Chicago!
