Team Europe Update: Ryan & Asha in Rome and Naples

After a fun-filled time in Istanbul, Ryan and Asha hopped on another plane to Rome (and later on to Naples), where they began the Italian portion of their journey. Read on to see what delicious foods they ate, which famous monuments they toured, and how they learned to fight like gladiators.

As they were traveling, Ryan and Asha filmed hundreds of hours of footage, which includes dozens of Viator tours plus some fun behind-the-scenes moments. Stay tuned for more tour video updates in the coming months, and in the meantime check out a recap of some of the adventures they captured on their iPad!

Day 1

As they say, “When in Rome… eat lots of food!” (Okay, maybe not exactly that, but that’s how the saying should go!)

So, naturally, the first thing they did was eat. On a Rome Food Walking Tour, they tasted nine samples of regional food, including a wine tasting, at some of the city’s best spots.

Afterwards, they learned the secrets of the gladiators and mastered the basics of hand-to-hand combat at Roman Gladiator School. Who do you think would win in a gladiator battle: Ryan or Asha?

Day 2

No trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to the Vatican! There, Ryan and Asha were able to tour St Peter’s Square, St Peter’s Basilica, and more.

Is there anything more beautiful than Rome at night? The team got to see for themselves the city and sights illuminated on a Rome by Night Walking Tour. Or was it in Amsterdam? Ryan got a little confused:

Day 3

Over the next two days, Ryan and Asha enjoyed a 48-hour Rome Hop-on Hop-off Double Decker Bus Tour and cruise – a pretty great deal and an easy way to see the city.

They also went on a tour of the Colosseum, one of Rome’s best known and most recognizable attractions.

Lions and tigers and gladiators, oh my!

That afternoon, they saw Rome in one of the most exhilarating ways possible: on a Vespa!

Day 4

Another fun way to see a city is on a Segway! Ryan and Asha tried out their skills again (last time they were on a Segway was in San Francisco) on a Rome Segway Tour.

Day 5

From Rome, the team headed to Naples for two days of day trips and sightseeing.

First, they went to the Amalfi Coast on a Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello Day Trip from Naples. The views were stunning; surely the videos and photos won’t do it justice:
