Passports with Purpose: Help Build a School in Cambodia

Have you heard of Passports with Purpose?

If you’re a serious about travel, and serious about making travel a force for good (not evil!) in the destinations you explore, Passports with Purpose is your new best travel friend. This annual fund-raising effort aims at making a difference in developing destinations around the world.

Last year the focus was on Heifer International; this year the focus is supporting American Assistance for Cambodia (AAfC), an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving opportunities for the youth and rural poor in Cambodia.

help the kids of Cambodia

$10 to help the kids of Cambodia. That's what being a traveler is all about.

The fund-raising goal? It’s a modest $13,000, which is what it costs to build a school in rural Cambodia. That’s not a lot of money – and already they have raised more than 50% of the goal, typically in increments of $10.

Even better, every time you donate $10 to the cause you are entered to win a prize. You can pick and choose what prizes appeal to you, from a $200 Viator.com gift certificate (thanks Anja for coordinating this!) to a Ko’Aloha Soprano Ukulele (yes!) to 5 nights at Los Suenos Resort in Costa Rica (muy bueno!) to a FLIP Mino 60-minute video camcorder. The fundrasier closes on December 21, and all prize winners will be announced January 5.

Viator is honored to support the Passports with Purpose cause, and we encourage you to donate $10 (or more!) to help build a school in Cambodia. For inspiration, read about the experience of New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof helping to open a school in Cambodia through the American Assistance for Cambodia.
