As much as I love visiting London, the one thing I hate about the place is the crowds - there are 7.5 million people living there, plus who knows how many visitors on any given day. So many people crowd the streets, the buses and the tube, all of them seeming to know where they are going and in a great rush to get there. I, on the other hand, have no idea how to get anywhere and as a tourist, I’m in no real rush. To arrive after a 22 hour flight from Sydney makes the whole scenario even more chaotic in my mind.I’m all for mastering the local public transport of a destination, but not on the first day with a 16 kilo suitcase in hand and serious jetlag setting in. Give me a pre-booked airport transfer in London anytime. All I had to do was get myself and my belongings to a desk in the airport and it was an easy ride to my hotel.
On arrival at the hotel and seeing how far the tube station actually was from the hotel (ok, so 300 meters doesn’t sound that far, but add long tunnels in the station, hundreds of people and heavy, awkward bags, and it is suddenly much further!) I knew my decision had been wise and rushed to reconfirm my return transfer. Now, I’m ready to face the hordes of workers, shoppers and tourists on Oxford Street … for shopping I can deal with crowds!
With jetlag and 7.5 million people - book a London airport transfer before you go!
