Our Blog earns 6th place!
Viator is pleased to announce we’ve won another award - this time for the Viator Travel Blog! (This comes on the heels of our blog winning a 2009 Chapeau Blog Award, so props to the Viator Travel Blog and its travel-loving contributors!).
The award is from TripBase, a new destination planning site. Our blog came in 6th place (out of 10, let’s be fair - behind Gridskipper, Worldhum and National Geographic) in the “Most Graphically Impressive” category. At first this sounded like damning with faint praise - you know, you’re pretty, but maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer - but then we read the award description and felt downright proud:
This is the award for the best looking/most accessible travel blogs. The award is handed out to the sector’s stars; those who lead the way in terms of graphics, layout, accessibility and design. It takes a creative touch to stand out from the crowd and only the leading inspirational travel bloggers will survive the rigorous selection process.
Travelling is aspirational, it is creative, and it is about adventure and learning new things. Bloggers in this category will have the rare ability to convey this to followers through page design, images and layout. A travel blog is also a forum for advice and tips on destinations, accommodation, modes of transport and things to see and do. Therefore we also look for a blog that can facilitate easy access by those looking for help or information.
OK, so they think our blog is visually appealing and inspirational. We can certainly live with that.
So thanks again TripBase for the award, we’re very honored, and we’ll keep on publishing great travel tips and advice because that’s what we love to do.

Yes, well done (hey, I can relate to the ‘it’s very pretty’ undertone), but if the award was for “Most Entertainingly Impressive” you’d be number 1 for sure. Cracks me up. I so love your blog. Want to go everywhere you talk about. With you all. Let’s start in Amsterdam and go from there.
